Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I'm following on my previous question - unfortunately, the forum doesn't allow me to answer directly to the original message thread. You can find it here:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-Notebooks/Elitebook-x360-1040-G6-privacy-screen-not-working/m...

The problem was a narrow viewing angle with or without the Privacy Screen on. @Siebed kindly advised I'm not the only one with this issue, and there seems to be a problem with the G6 displays.

After 2,5 months of trying to get the problem solved with unbelievably terrible customer service, I finally got the panel changed.

The maintenance person said there was definitely something wrong with the panel, and the Privacy Screen wasn't working as intended. It is now darker than before, but unfortunately, the viewing angle still seems quite bad, when the Privacy Screen is OFF.

I didn't take pictures of the viewing angle to compare and I'm unsure if the viewing angle with Privacy Screen OFF is now slightly better than earlier, but it's not good anyway. I've attached some photos of the screen (directly from the front and two at a slight angle) where you can see the screen getting dark very quickly if you're not looking at it directly. And even looking at 0 degrees, the vertical viewing angle is terrible.

The maintenance person seemed to think the viewing angle is normal for this type of laptop, that it's not the best usually. I found this a bit strange since it's supposed to be a high-end business laptop.

I would love to hear your comments. I will tag @Pilotg @Makkillottu @Liceo since you reported similar issues in other threads:

Please let me know if anyone has got this solved. Based on for example this, https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Extremely-Narrow-Viewing-Angle/td-p/7..., I'm afraid these SureView models just have terrible viewing angle overall. I'm starting to think I have to find out a way to get this returned. Just not excited about the thought of having to fight my way through HP's Kafkaesque Customer Service processes again.
