I have a user who is assigned an EliteBook x360 1030 G3. Randomly the hardware volume level indicator will pop up on the screen and stay there. Users insists they have not touched the volume button to cause this to happen. Once the indicator pops up it won't go away. We have been able to force it to happen by having the user touch the volume buttons on the side of the case. The buttons on the keyboard do not cause an issue. The only way to clear the issue is to restart the laptop.
A curious effect of this is that once the volume indicator pops up the user cannot open attached PDFs out of Outlook email. Why?? What does one have to do with the other??
I guess this is obviously a hardware issue, and will probably need to open a ticket and send the laptop back for repair. However, in the meantime until I can send the user a spare, is there a way to disable the buttons on the side of the case? Or is there some other fix for this??
Thank you
Michael
