Hi 🙂
During normal use of my laptop, it suddenly displayed a blue screen of death. I didn't think much of it, so I can't remember exactly what error message it displayed.
When I tried to restart it, the laptop failed to boot. The backlight for the screen turns on, and the LEDs on the keyboard still work, but there is nothing displayed on the screen.
When I press a key upon powering the machine on to enter the BIOS or view other startup options I get a small message down the bottom corresponding to the key I pressed (eg. "F10...BIOS Setup Options") but it does not actually display the BIOS or allow me to make any changes.
The only other thing I can do is press CTRL+ALT+DELETE which seems to successfully restart the machine, but again nothing displays.
There is a brief buzzing sound when I power the laptop on, although it's possible that has always happened and I never thought anything of it before.
I have tried a hard reset and tried all sorts of variations of keypresses and resets to no avail. I'm not confident in opening the cover and poking around at the internal components, but I will give it a go if it has a reasonable likelihood of changing the situation.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Ken
