HP Recommended
Probook 640 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Fresh install of Windows 10 64-bit 1809, BIOS has microphone enabled, Windows 10 1809 shows everything is good, including Privacy permissions to access the mic, mic is also enabled, Device Manager shows good, Control Panel > Sounds > Recording tab shows Enabled and active device.

Talk to the top of the laptop (where the mic is - next to the camera) and NO recorded audio. Visit levels tab and mic is NOT muted.

Speaker audio is fine. Mic just refuses to show level sound.

Several other users with the same model machine have the same issue on corporate image. It is impractical to reimage all just to try and get the mic audio to work.

Not so sure the driver is at issue. Any notes of BIOS versions from HP that are known to fix any mic audio issues? I've suggested to users they consider USB headsets, but that is not always practical for everyone.

Driving my IT team nuts trying to fix.

Any insights welcome.

Thank you.
