Hi,
Try the following - connect a usb Mouse where required.
and found 2 mice listed:
HID compliant mouse
PS/2 Compatible Mouse
So I told it to disable the HID, and it disabled the external mouse and not the touchpad.
And I tried to disable the PS/2 but it does not offer that option.
And under properties it says that mouse is "plugged into PS/2 mouse port"
I also have an 18 pound hammer that I use for splitting firewood, but so far I have not chosen to adjust the laptop with that external device 🙂
Help?
And I tried posting my message but the demon in the machine did not like it:
"Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied."
So, so I guess I am satisfied. Help?
Oh, one more: somewhere back there I tried telling it to update the driver, and it said the driver is OK, shut up and leave me alone, so I left it alone about that.

I have been having the same issues with my trackpad, and following the above remedy, I had a trackpad working fine; however, now when ever I switch off my laptop the trackpad fails. Could you please advise?
Thanks

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.
I understand that you have an HP laptop and the touchpad does not work. I read that sometimes the touchpad works and after restarting the laptop it does not. Not to worry, I'll do my best to help you. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.
I would like to know the following information to assist you better:
- Please let me know the exact laptop model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
- Have you tried to reinstall the touchpad drivers?
- Did you run any hardware diagnostic on the touchpad?
- What version of Windows are you using?
Please feel free to reply with the information. I'll watch out for your reply. Eager to help! 🙂

I also have a touchpad not working at all with no curser and buttons not working. The touch screen works normally, and plugging in an external mouse works normally. The model is: 15-bs060wm product ID is: 00325-80857-68736-AA OEM. touch pad device was not shown in devices, so download a driver from HP. After this was done the touch pad driver shown in devices had a message that the device would not start with a code 10. went through some HP online troubleshooting procedures, they suggested a windows reset (Windows 10 64 bit), this did not solve the problem. I also tried uninstalling the synaptics sm bus touch pad, then resetting the bios as given in this post. I also did an HP hardware diagnostic which came up with a device failure and a code of GLRK8C-8RG9M9-XD7URG-1Q313. I am thinking that the touch pad has a physical problem and needs replacing, Any suggestions?
