Graphic Chipset Nvidia GeForce 8400 M on a HP Pavilion 6699ez working fine under WIN7

On my HP Pavilion 6699ez Notebook, I was successfully installing the Nvidia Driver for the GeForce 8400 M Graphic Chipset provided by Nvidia at URL http://www.nvidia.de/object/notebook_winvista_win7_195.62_whql_de.html  and the external Monitor HP 2229h is now perfectly working.

Despite the warning from HP, that the Pavilion dv6500 - Series would (probably) not work with WIN 7 an HP will not provide any updated drivers for these Models of Notebook. Even when HP is stating 'not to support this', you can take the risk of migrating to WIN 7.

This driver provided by Nvidia might encourage also other owners of such (old) Notebooks to upgrade to WIN 7 without having reduced functionality afterwards.

This should work for you (all) as well. Good Luck.

Hi,

Uninstall driver for Your graphic. (Always uninstall graphic driver in safe mode. Before You will update graphic driver You must always uninstall older first. It's very important.)

On boot press F8 and choose Safe mode.

Resources:

Uninstalling Software in Windows 7

Uninstall or change a program in Windows 7

Restart Your system.

If You install earlier drivers rom Windows Update then after this step Your system will not have yeelow sign with vga video driver. It will use Microsoft driver. This may be Your problem. If You have this situation then restart Your system.

On boot press F8 and choose Safe mode.

You may try again driver from guide. If this will not work uninstall it again.

Try drivers from Nvidia site here (for Win7 32 bit) or here (for Win7 64 bit) (ver 195.62)

Moded drivers:

Remember here about installation procedure which was written in guide:

Hi,

I have a similar problem,  the aero doesn't work. I've tried following this guide, I would go to safe mode to uninstall the generic driver for the display adapter, however when i try to install the drivers listed here, it gives me an error saying something like it could not find compatible devices. but if i try to install the driver w/o uninstalling the generic driver, it goes smoothly (minus the aero package).

another thing that didn't work well for me is the scroll for the touchpad. I tried uninstalling the driver/software in safe mode, then installed the driver again, but no luck.

thanks,

I upgraded to windows 7 on my dv9700 and now I can't use my video card. When I install the correct drivers I get the BSOD, so I have to uninstall to get it working again on Standard VGA adapter. I have tried everything but doing a custom install, any chance that might work?

Your laptop only shows 3GB of memory, because it has a 32-bit CPU!!!! A 32-bit CPU cannot see more then 3 GB of memory!

Are you sure about that?

Hello.  Anyone know anything about the fingerprint readers?  Mine went out after the Win 7 upgrade.  I had no idea it would be a problem.  Everything else is fine but apparently there's no fix for Win 7 yet.  The Digitalpersona page refers you to HP and HP says there's no fix.  So am I out of luck?

I have some strange and very painful graphic card issue.

I've installed all the drivers except Quick Launch, Lightscribe etc. bloatwares, especially I've got Intel chipset drivers and graphic card drivers installed, all from Daniel's guide. But (proper for 8000M series) grahic card drivers from Nvidia shouts at me they're are not for this device and I had to use modded drivers founded by device ID.

The problem is:

  • I can't use Aero mode in Windows 7 - when I move app window it shows glitches where transparency should appear, freezes and then graphic error baloon pops out!
  • and of course I can't play games also - bugs and freezes are terrible

Notice: device manager shows me 2 unknown basic system devices: PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_30CC103C&REV_12  and PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_30CC103C&REV_12

Daniel, jeżeli zechcesz mi pomóc i będzie Ci wygodniej po polsku, może prywatna wiadomość? Obiecuje opisać tu później rozwiązanie (I'm asking Daniel for help in Polish and promising to descibe solution here if we'll found any )

Hi,

I'm not sure that I understand what You are saying. You are using in the same time Intel and Nvidia graphic drivers right? If yes then this is Your problem.

Write down Your p/n which is under Your computer and looks like this.

Just wondeing if anyone ever figured out how to get HDMI audio working through Windows 7. I know it's a driver issue on the video card, but as of several months ago, there was no new driver with audio through HDMI support.
