Hi,
1. Write down Your p/n which is under Your computer and looks like this.
2. Uninstall Your current Intel software/driver for wirelessand try Intel original driver here (for Windows 7 32 bit) or here (for Windows 7 64 bit).
3. So You don't see listed wireless under HP Wireless Assistant jus like sometime1985?

EZ379AV is the product number
When I installed the wireless assistant it had the bluetooth active but the wireless adapter said Disabled and was grayed out. You couldn't activate it or do anything with it. I uninstalled the wireless assistant.
Thanks for the help. I will try these two drivers tonight to see if anything happens. Its just very strange to me that it isn't in the device manager at all. It has the ethernet adapter, two bluetooth entries, but nothing else. And no devices that are unknown.

I would check in BIOS to see if there is a setting where wireless may have inadvertantly got disbled. Or, do a hard reset which will reset BIOS/hardware.
1-remove power cord and battery
2-press power button for 20-30 seconds
3-reinstall battery and power cord
4-power on

I don't know what happened but I got home. Turned the computer, ethernet connected on, Uninstalled the INTEL software and pulled out the ethernet and the wireless was there and working. Very bizarre. But thank you for your response and the quick reply.

Thanks soooooooooooooooooo! much for this guide I wanted to update to windows 7 however I was nervous to do so since HP was not providing support for this upgrade
This guide gave me the information I needed to do the up grade with some confidence and it worked like a charm for my dv 9420. Thank you, Daniel and every one else who had a hand in putting this guide together:smileytongue:
