Hello

I'm a school teacher for networking.

For our next lesson, I'm trying to connect a printer to a wired LAN operated by a simple Cisco network switch. There is no router on the network, therefore no Default gatway address.

I have 2 computers connected to the switch, and assigned IP's 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 (with 255.255.255.0) and they are communication with no problem.

I have connected the printer to the switch using Ethernet cable, I have setup manual IPv4 connection with ip 192.168.1.8, subnet 255.255.255.0 and default gatway 0.0.0.0.

Still I can't ping the printer and can't install it from the other computers. What seems to be the problem?

Thanks!
