Is there a easy way to exact and post a video from the online PSM library?  How about from the downloaded media?

Hey.

Not familiar with those places.  Can you provide a link?

Hi Skip,

Try this link to the Partner Services Library.

Often times there are videos showing how to replace a part.  It's those videos that most can't get to on the normal support site that could be useful.

Ah.  I've used the internal version of this with a slightly different name.

Tell you what, if you point me to a video that you think would be most helpful, let me use that video as alab rat to see what we can do.  I know they have those videos sitting in a SWF format, so some conversion would be required and depending on what source files are available, the quality might not be tops, but it's worth a try.  It's final destination would have to be YouTube.

Hi Skip,

I am not interested in posting the PSL videos on YouTube. I prefer to post the videos on this forum. Why send a person in need to YouTube?

Hey Dave,

I thihnk the only option for putting videos on the forums right now is to put them in YouTube and then embed the YT video in the forum post.  Doesn't hurt to have the video in YouTube, just gives Google another place to find the solution for the customer searching for an answer.

Hi Dave,

It is probably in the interest of using the server space at the YouTube server farms instead of the HP servers. That is my business sense guess.

There are some real benefits to posting videos in YouTube. I post almost every video we create on YouTube.  One significant benefit is that people find the videos on YouTube much more quickly than if we post the same content  anywhere else.  Google seems to add search weight to content in YouTube.  We can (and do) turn off the advertising on our videos.  We often promote video created by users (until they add advertising).  At the end of the day, my goal is to make sure customers find a solution to their problem, I don't think it really matters where they find their solution.  Our YouTube channels are just another place people can find HP support content.

To provide a solution for people already on an HP page, we provide videos on an HP hosted server.  Those videos are hosted from the hp.com/supportvideos page.

Hi Skip,

I understand your reasoning.  While I can download a video in .swf format from the PSL library there appears to be no timely way to get this information to the person in need.

Do you have a procedure and process for the above situation?
