Hello everyone,
I have recently bought the HP Officejet Pro 8620 and I am having problems connecting it with my computer.
I have used the setup wizard to connect the printer to my university's network/WiFi and when it is finished, the blue connectivity light stays a solid blue and the screen says it is connected, which is great. However, when I use the HP Officejet Pro 8620 instillation/computer connection program, I always get the message,
"- The IP address entered is either incorrect, or it is from a different wireless network that has the same name as your network. Please confirm that your printer actually has this IP address or enter the correct address below and click Search. Also confirm that you wireless network name is unique."
I have made sure that the IP listed on the printer is copied 100% exactly the same with the dots and the message still appears and my printer is unable to connect with my computer. As another option, it says I can use the hostname to find the printer as well. However, the same thing occurs. I'll type the hostname number by number and letter by letter and it still cannot find my printer. Futhermore, there is only 1 network name so I know I'm tapping the right one. Being a student, it is very important that I get things printed off so it is vital for me to solve this problem. Also, I spent a lot of money on it so I need it to work properly.
It should be easy to connect being that it gives me all of the necessary information right infront of me, but like I said, it has not been an easy nor fun experience. I don’t really know how IP addresses work but I have tried using every single one that I can find that is relevent. As of now, I have to save everything as a PDF on my computer, email myself the desired printing documents, download them on my Galaxy Note 4, connect my phone with the printer using the HP Wireless Direct feature on the Officejet and then I can finally print my things. Yes, it works that way but it is such a hassle and I shouldn’t have to do that. I do realize that I can go buy a USB connecting cable to connect my printer to my computer but I don't want to have to mount the 2 everytime I would like to print.
(Also something to note, since I am using a university's WiFi, I do not have access to the router of course so I don't know if that's a contributing factor in why things aren't working).
If anyone has any suggestions/advice/answers on the issue at hand, please let me know. Thanks!
