SDSS 3.8 doesn't recognize my scanner (ScanJet Enterprise Flow s3) for some reason. It says "A scanner error has occurred. Be sure the scanner is properly conencted and turned on. Ex = 220". If I clink OK to that, then SDSS just shows a red X, as if the scanner is turned off or truley disconnected. Running on Windows 7 (64-bit). This comes as I have upgraded from a ScanJet Enterprise Flow s2 scanner with SDSS 3.7.1. Used that older ScanJet scanner and SDSS 3.7.1 for several years without incident, and worked very well. Have tried to install, uninstall drivers (etc.) for several days. HP technical support is stumped as well, as I was on the phone with them for 5 hours, a couple of days ago. I can go to the "Devices and Printers" part of the control panel and use the "HP ScanJet Flow Enterprise 7000 s3" devices there, and actually do a successful scan with that software, so I know that it is at least working to some extent. Of note, with a spare Windows 8.1 computer I have in the office, I did the full install with this exact ScanJet Enterprise Flow 7000 s3 unit, and all installed and worked properly with SDSS 3.8 on that platform. From that, I at least know the scanner is okay I guess. I upgraded the firware on the ScanJet too, just for good measure. I am up to date on all windows updates on my Windows 7 (64-bit) system. I do not get any error messages during the installtion process for SDSS 3.8 (etc.) either, so I do not think there s some kind of installation problem. Finally, I am using the exact same USB port with the new scanner (7000 s3), as I was with the old scanner (7000 s2).
Overall, I am very stumped. HP tech spport is too. Could it be an issue with SDSS 3.8 and Windows 7? I wonder. It appears SDSS 3.7.1 does not work with the 7000 s3 scanner (tried that). The 7000 s3 requires version 3.8 of SDSS.
Thoughts anyone?
Best regards,
Rick
