I have this same exact problem. It seems when the computer goes asleep or laptop gets disconnected from the network, the print queue will remain "offline" even when reconnecting laptop, and the printer is awake and online. I use a static IP, so this is not part of the problem. If I run the windows printer troubleshooter, it will resolve it, the problem is this keeps happeing and the end user on network does not have admin privileges which the diagnose requires.
It would be nice if there was a means to turn off the sleep mode completely. I can only find where to increase the idle time before sleep/shutdown.
