HPOfficeJet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Purchased HP 6870 Printer 4 years ago. The computer (PC) would never recognize the printer, despite mutliple installs,  from downloads to supplied CD. However, I had a laptop that would recognize it and print to it. I thought the printer was the problem, so I just bought the OfficeJet Pro 8710.  Same song, second verse - the computer will not recognize the printer, but a laptop will. I used the Setup Wireless Wizard on the 8710 - it connected to it just fine and created an IP address. The software on the 8710 is more sophisticated - after not finding the printer, it asks for an IP address, which I gave it. It then recognized it (sort of) and gave some cautionary statements about functionality. However, it didn't recognize it when I went to print from it. It was configurable when i purchased a USB printer cable and hard wired it to the computer. Call the computer company - they have no clue why it won't recognize the printer and said to email HP support. Any help?
