Product: OfficeJet Pro 8740
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I bought the OfficeJet Pro 8740 3 weeks ago. It came with 2 CDs. One was the installation software, the other was Readiris Pro 14.

 

From checking online, I see that it is an OCR software. But nowhere in the box or on the HP site do I see anything about this software. I refrain from installing software without knowing more about it. Such as, is the real thing or a stripped down version? Will it run only for a while, then you have to pay for it? How well does it work with the 8740? Will installing it mess with the 8740's software?

 

I suggest including something about this software in the box!

 

I tried going to their web site, irisusa.com, but it won't come up!

 

I don't have a strong need for OCR software, but hey, I'd like to know more about it- it's good and bad attributes.
