I recently purchased the HP LAPTOP 15-DW0037WM for my daughter for college. She's already cracked the screen, but the replacement part, L52000-001 (LCD RAW PANEL 15.6'INCH HD BV SVA 220) is only available through a couple of sellers on Ebay and one of Amazon that are charging almost $200. She got a quote from Geek Squad for $400 for the full repair. The laptop itself only cost $400. I'm thinking they're just taking advantage of the fact that this replacement screen model hasn't really hit the market yet?
Is it possible to swap out for another HP brand or compatible 15.6" screen and if so, what models would be compatible. I'm much more concerned that she has a functional laptop over having a high quality screen.
Thanks in advance if you're able to help!
