Hoping someone might have a quick answer before I start my own lengthy investigation....
The battery on this NEW laptop is flat after a few days, whether in hibernation or shutdown. It goes flat so fast, I suspect it may not be actually shutting down fully.
1. Could the use of a USB Wireless mouse dongle be keeping it switched on? The USB ports do not seem to provide power when the laptop is shutdown, in that they do not charge a phone...
2. Does selecting the BIOS "Wake on LAN S3/S4/S5" mean it consumes significant power? The laptop does not "wake on LAN" when shutdown (S5) though it does wake from hibernation and sleep (S4/S3). I wouldn't expect to be able to wake a device over Wifi, and the laptop doesn't, but does the Pavilion try and keep Wifi going to allow a wake?
I have read a few other older posts on this issue but not found a relevant answer. But I apologise in advance if there is one and I missed it!
