This issue was posted in 2017 for people using Windows 7 but I am posting this problem anew because I am using Windows 10 Home (64 bit) and figured that it is sufficiently different than the solutions posted 3+ years ago. BACKGROUND: I just started setting up a new laptop and have hit a problem trying to install the HP drivers for my HP Officejet Pro 8610 wireless printer. I have been using this printer for several years with a number of different computers without any problems. PROBLEM: This time, I get to the point when the install has found the printer, has the correct IP address, and I am asked whether I want to connect to the printer by wireless, wired, or cancel until later. When I select WIRELESS, the install "spins" for about a minute and them comes up with an error message saying that there was an "Unsuccessful Network Installation". REMEDIAL ATTEMPTS: Some of the steps I have taken so far include: [a] going to Control Panel to uninstall all HP programs and then going to the HP site and downloading the latest version of the drivers and retrying to install the printer but getting the same error notice; [b] loading the latest version of HP Print and Scan Doctor which finds the printer, downloads the latest drivers, and initiates the printer installation process but resulting with the same error notice; and [c] using Control Panel to uninstall all HP programs, turning off the router for about 30 seconds; turning off the printer for about 30 seconds; and turning off the laptop for about a minute and then retrying to install the printer drivers but getting the same error notice. I am at the end of my rope. It cannot be this hard. Hope someone here can help ... btw my skill set is not IT so as much "hand holding" as someone can provide will be greatly appreciated.
