Mac OS
Over ethernet my printer self-assigns an IP address of 169.254.89.235 as if it can't connect to my network.
I can add the printer, and print to it, and I can access the embedded web server by typing the IP address into my browser, but I can't launch the embedded web server from the HP utility, or from the System Preferences printer panel. And the printer lost connection with web services, which says there is no network connection.
I tried rebooting the router, and I tried assigning a static IP address to the printer, but nothing worked — the printer couldn't be found on my network, and I had no access to the embedded web server at the static address.
I've also tried restoring factory default settings to the printer. Nothing resolves the issue.
This is new behavior — it has functioned fine over ethernet for 3 years, getting its IP address from my router and being connected to my network.
If I switch to Wireless instead of ethernet everything works just fine, but I would prefer to continue to use ethernet. Can this be fixed? Is there a setting somewhere I've missed? Or is my printer just failing?
