Officejet 5610
macOS 10.15 Catalina

My 90 year old father has a Mac running Catalina (10.15) and an HP Officejet 5610.  The printer has been working fine for many months since I installed the printer.  Suddenly, he was unable to print because all of the driver files are identified as malware by the Mac.  After spending several hours on the phone with AppleCare support, they said that we would have to contact HP because HP has unregistered their driver files with Apple.  This is not a new printer and it is out of warranty.  There are no new drivers available for this printer after 10.8 and installing the 10.8 drivers does not resolve the problem.  Because the printer is out of warranty, there does not appear to be a way to get this resolved other than this forum.  Note that no change was made to either the operating system or the HP drivers to introduce this problem.

Apparently, HP can remotely break their printers and then provides no way to resolve the problem.
