Today I purchased a Belkin Thunderbolt 3 mini dock that provides dual monitor support via 2 HDMI at 40 Gbps. I was tired of just having one Insignia Television monitor connected directly to my HP Spectre x360 HDMI slot - that's why I bought the Belkin T3. So I bought a second Insignia Television monitor in addition to 2 6 ft HDMI Cables that are capable of 4K High Definition Connect with high speed with Ethernet.
Should be all plug and play or so I thought. The first unit I got well the HDMI #1 slot wasn't recognized and after troubleshooting this with Belkin they provided me with a case number and I returned the unit back to BestBuy and swapped it out for another new unit. Came home and the second unit had a similar issue but with the HDMI #2 slot.
Out of curiosity I disconnected the HDMI #2 cable from the back of the docking station and went directly to the side of my laptop into it's HDMI connection and all 3 monitors lit up and were working well. So this let me know that it wasn't an issue with any of the monitors and/or the cables. It had to be a settings issue or issues at this point.
I called Belkin yet again, and they remoted into my laptop. All my basic settings are correct and good to go, they tried to see if there were any updates for the Thunderbolt for HP on it's website and tried to run the latest but it wouldn't run on my computer (after specifically picking out the correct computer through the software system that identifies your make and model).
At this point they suggested I had two options. 1) contact HP directly for support and/or 2) return the unit back again and pick another docking station. Again they stated that all my drivers are up to date, all my basic settings are proper at this time. Can someone tell me if there's any advance settings I'm overlooking here please? This shouldn't be so difficult, as this is a plug and play hardware.
My year's warranty just expired a month and a half ago and I never had anything ever connected to the Thunderbolt 3 dock slot. I did find somewhere that sales had told another consumer that Thunderbolt 3 never really worked the HP Spectre x360. Surely, I don't want to believe this, but if this is the case I'm going to be extremely disappointed. Please advise; thank you.
