Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer stopped working recently, probably following a windows update. I have tried all the solutions in the post for this subject, incl. root install, but am still getting the problem. In fact it seems to be getting worse, my printer now tells me that the driver is unavailable. HP Smart (which I have just re-installed) is telling me "Printer status unknown"
