I just bought a brand new HP Envy x360 15" laptop, and I'm getting universally weak WiFi connection. My prior laptop, which I felt was very slow in general, had great WiFi connection and internet speeds especially at work where I need to use Zoom with patients. Unfortunately, this new HP Envy constantly lags on Zoom, disconnects frequently, and the WiFi even sometimes disconnects altogether. Web pages are also slower to load. There are no other processes running on the computer at the same time.
I have several other devices with me connected to the internet and they are all running Zoom meetings perfectly fine on my work WiFi while my new HP Envy is failing miserably. I have spent a very long time troubleshooting as follows:
- Google search told me that other people having this issue just changed their Power Plan from Balanced to High Performance and it worked for them. First of all, I did not have any options other than Balanced, so I jumped through a million different hoops just to get that option to show up. Even when I selected it and specifically went into the "Wireless Adapter Settings" to make sure it was on "Max Performance," nothing changed.
- I reinstalled my Wireless network adapter driver which is a Realtek, did not help.
- I used the HP support website to detect the suggested drivers for my computer and installed those, did not help.
I'm now very frustrated, very hungry, and just hoping for some wisdom from the community before I decide to return this laptop.
