I have a brand new HP laptop where, as the title says, the backlit keyboard timer can't be disabled (to my knowledge), despite having the option to do so. I have tried the HP support on it, but to no avail, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.  I'm able to access the BIOS menu and have selected the option to set the keyboard timeout to 'never', and then proceeding to choose 'save changes & exit' once done. I've restarted and done hard shutdowns multiple times, and the BIOS menu has always saved the changes that I do after those. Despite following all the directions for the solution on a previous thread here for this problem, my backlit keyboard lights still shut off after the default 30 seconds, even when my BIOS menu says it should be otherwise.

Any advice on where I should go with this would be greatly appreciated because I love having a backlit keyboard... when it works.
