I have had this printer (HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color) for years and it has previously been able to connect fine to my home wireless internet. I have been able to print wirelessly to this printer from both my phone (iOS 15.6.1) and my laptop (macOS 15.5.1). However, I recently replaced my modem/router and since then have been unable to set up wireless on my printer.
Modem model: Motorola MG8702
ISP: Mediacom
What happens when I try setup: On both my phone and my laptop I have downloaded the HP Smart app. I select the option to set up a new wireless printer. The app then searches for printers and does not find mine after multiple searches.
What I have tried:
- Confirmed printer is on and wireless is enabled (wireless light flashes blue, ready light is on).
- Reset printer wireless settings to default.
- Restarted printer.
- Restarted router.
- Tried WPS setup. After seeing WPS icon on my router, I start the WPS search on my printer. It fails after about 30 seconds then resets to default wireless settings.
- Tried moving printer into the same room as router and tried above steps again.
- Disabled band steering on router and connected phone/laptop to the 2.4 Ghz network and tried steps 1-3 again.
Notes: During setup on HP Smart on my phone, I get the message "Go to your wi-fi settings on this device and select 'HP-Setup-...' from the wi-fi network list." In my phone's wi-fi settings I see the following network under Devices: "HPCP1525-0afe7f." Connecting to this network does not cause the printer to be detected by HP Smart. Additionally, I do not see any network starting with "HP-Setup-..." on either phone or laptop.
Summary: My printer is not found by HP Smart after replacing my modem/router. The network HP-Setup-... is not found under available networks on my phone or laptop. Band steering is disabled and I am trying to connect on the 2.4 Ghz network. The printer stopped working after modem/router was replaced but has worked previously.
