I noticed a new File in my Program Data called Portrait Displays containing another folder called HP Display Control Service. These folders contain no data and are in read only status. They seem to serve no purpose what so ever except for the fact that they are creating Temp files in my Windows Temp Folder.
Below is screen shot of one of the Application Temp file as they contain data.
I have tried to open one of these Application Temp files but they will not open no matter what program I select to open it and I am the administrator. I would also like to mention that this Portrait Displays file also appears in my wife's HP Envy Laptop in the Program Files and exhibits the same behavior. I have tried to delete this file and it will delete but as soon as I restart my computer it comes right back. I have scanned this file with Norton 360, Malwarebytes and MSERT with all negative results. If you notice from the above pic that this file is copyrighted by Portrait Displays Inc. https://portrait.com/ . I use NVIDIA so I do not need nor want an HP Display Control Install Utility. This appears to be bloatware that HP has put on computers either by some optional update or by stealth. I would like to know what this program is and how can I get rid of it as it clearly serves no purpose except to generate temp files. This is the type of thing that when Microsoft sends an HP optional update to user's computers it needs to include a link about what the update is for so we can decide if we want to install it on our computers. The MS Update Catalogue is just useless to find out about an optional update as the update in question to install is 99.9% of the time not there yet.
