Experiencing the same problem reported since at least 2020 on official HP website and looks like possibly earlier.
ISSUE: HP Envy overheats to extremely high temps when in sleep mode and lid is closed.
BACKGROUND: Just bought this laptop and it is my first experience with this issue with power cord plugged in so haven't tried sleep mode with lid closed without plugging in laptop power cord.
SOLUTION: Shut Down every time not using laptop which prematurely wears components (e.g., early breakdown) so not a good solution
FRUSTRATION: This is clearly a known issue and years after the issue has been repeatedly reported, it is STILL NOT being addressed.
ISSUE SEVERITY: The overheating is severe and a lawsuit waiting to happen if this results in fire or some other issue like burns, etc.
SUGGESTION: Just fix the issue and let your customers know how to resolve permanently. This would go a long way to improving HP reputation
CUSTOMER OPTION SERIOUSLY BEING CONSIDERED: Return the laptop and Replace with a different brand which would be a sad trend for HP.
