So, it looks like I’ve joined an ever increasing HP laptop group - those whose keyboard and touch pad will not work in Windows. No, it’s not the drivers - they have been checked, double checked, wiped and replaced - no change. No, it’s not something I recently installed. No, it’s not a hardware fault with either keyboard or touchpad. They all work fine and pass all tests in the HP diagnostic and BIOS tests. They just don’t want to work in Windows. Plug in an external keypad and mouse - they work fine. I’ve done a partial and then a full mind wipe and reset to Windows 10. No change. Tried upgrading to W11 - no change.
I think that it must be the orientation sensor that decides when to put the laptop into tablet mode (which disables the keyboard and touch sensor) being stuck, busted or comatose. Is there any way to disable the function of this sensor, or disable the laptops ability to go into tablet mode? I’m hoping so, because if not, what I am left with is a pretty useless laptop.
fingers crossed someone has come up with a real solution, rather than all of the above which I have tried, and which failed.
