Product: HP ENVY x360 Convertible Laptop PC 13m-bd0000 (172M9AV)

I have been using my HP Envy for a little under 2 years. The product worked great. Then the other day I go to open the screen and hear a loud cracking. It appears that the plastic that holds screw fasteners to the LCD back cover has disintegrated and as such the hinge was no longer attached to the laptop. Luckily the screen did not crack, but needless to say, the laptop has been well looked after and all I did was open the screen and the thing broke. The way the hinges broke appears to indicate that the plastic was substandard. No cracking occurred as one might expect with user error. The plastic layers appears to peel apart almost. After some searching I found out that this is not at all an uncommon issue and that I have been lucky to make it almost 2 years without difficulty. I am looking for repair options, maybe a recall if possible, but I'm not sure what HP is doing about this manufacturing oversight.
