Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have an hdmi to usb c for my laptop. But it’s going dark or it says input not found. I tried to change the settings from dvi to hdmi but every time I want to select hdmi the screen goes dark and it’s still on dvi. Any suggestions?
