hp deskjet plus 4100 all-in-one printer won't connect to wifi. the blue wifi lights keeps flashing.

yes, i've restarted the printer. yes, i have hp smart downloaded on my imac. when it scans to look for a printer, nothing shows up. hp's virtual AI "help assistant" is a joke. yes, i have a strong wifi connection and bluetooth activated on my imac. yes, the printer is placed within 2 feet of my wifi router. printer still has no wifi connection.

when i press the "i" (information) button on the printer, it prints out a page with 3 icons (including the disconnected wifi symbol) and no text. i can't download the printer firmware update because i have no idea what the printer address is, and the printer still has no wifi connection.

when i go to hp smart, the printer is listed as "not available". note: i previously had this printer successfully connected to a previous wifi connection at another location for over a year, and hp smart worked fine. the "diagnose & fix" option is grayed out. when i click, "get support", the printer doesn't show up on the scan. when i try to set up the printer in hp smart as a "new" printer, the printer still doesn't show up. when i look at the printer, the blue wifi light still continues to blink. the printer has no wifi connection.

please help.
