Good day to you all,
So I bought this desktop about 6 months ago. It has performed quite well, but since the past few weeks, it has been crashing quite regularly.
Crashes seem to be random though they seem to happen most often while gaming. The crashes never happen at any consistent point either, as it will sometimes crash when sitting idle in a main menu, or in the middle of a game. There is no lead-up, or anything indicating something wrong. The pc will just suddenly crash to a black screen while the fans suddenly ramp up to full speed and immediately reboot.
Reliability monitor shows: Bugcheck is 0x00000113 (0x0000000000000019, 0x0000000000000001, 0x00000000000010de, 0x0000000000002684).
Debugging the minidump in WinDBG comes up with the following:
VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR (113) The dxgkrnl has detected that a violation has occurred. This resulted in a condition that dxgkrnl can no longer progress. By crashing, dxgkrnl is attempting to get enough information into the minidump such that somebody can pinpoint the crash cause. Any other values after parameter 1 must be individually examined according to the subtype. I've tried :
- Disabling fast boot
- Disabling automatic reboot so I could see if it gave me an onscreen error message (It didn't)
- Updating the NVIDIA graphics driver
- Rolling back the graphics driver (to see if it was a stability issue, but it wasn't)
- Clean reinstallation of the graphics driver
- Updated drivers and firmware
- Checking for updates
- Running hardware diagnostics
Not getting anything.
HP refers automatically to virtual assistant and, of course, these forums, where I've seen people post similar problems, though I haven't found any definitive solutions. Contacting HP is something I have yet to do personally as their messenger and phone times rarely overlap with my free time.
As someone else pointed out here already, resetting to factory default won't help me much seeing as the problem will more than likely arise again when I start getting drivers back up to date again.
I really would like to know where to go from here.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE 03/06/2024:
I have once again tried to do a clean reinstall of the drivers using DDU and running dxdiag to see if anything was wrong, but nothing. Same crashes still kept taking place.
I decided to reset the PC, but the same crash happened again. I have no idea what else to try.
