HP Hardware Diagnostics allows me to select a thermal profile but doesn't clearly explain what each of them does. Do they correspond to what's available in the HP Command Center, which I have seen defined online, or are the parameters somewhat different. The available modes are Balanced, Turbo, and Cooler. I assume Turbo somehow ramps up the CPU and spins the fans more frequently, and that Cooler does the opposite, but 1) how does it do that and 2) where can I find more granular information? This is like driving a car that only has "Slow, Normal, and Fast" instead of an accelerator pedal.
As a former tech writer, it's pretty annoying how so much HP-supplied software is basically undocumented.
