Product: HP DeskJet 3772 All-in-One Printer

My mother got me a new, compact printer for Christmas last year because she thought it would be a better printer than the "big" one I already had for years, which still worked without an issue until I set up this new HP Deskjet 3700. I set up my new printer and finally got it to work, and as I used it for minimal printer jobs, I realized how fast it was going through the ink cartridges—abnormally fast, unless I am missing something or this printer is just not meant for a lot of printing. Either way, I need this printer for my school, which starts on September 4th, and I cannot figure out what is wrong with it for my life.  Also, every time I try to get help online, at HP.com or InstantInk.com, I just get thrown around literally in circles and get nowhere online for help with my printing issues. Please, if someone could please help me so I can fix this, I would appreciate it a lot. Thank you in advance for any help that anyone can give me.
