Hello HP Community,

I received a new HP laptop (Model: fr0116TU) today, purchased online via Amazon India. The device is brand new and was activated for the first time today.

However, when I checked the warranty status using the serial number, I noticed that the factory warranty start date is showing as July 29, 2025, which is earlier than my actual purchase and delivery date.

I have the purchase invoice available and have already initiated a support request to get the warranty start date corrected.

Could someone from HP support or the community please advise on:

  • The standard process to correct the warranty start date for a new device, and
  • Any additional steps required from my side to expedite this?

Thanks in advance for the support.

Hello @Jebas ,

Welcome to the HP community.

As a new guest to our community, I would advise the community search functionality as it bears answers for most questions.

A quick search for the term "warranty" finds, as an example, this >Brand new desktop already out of warranty?<

One of our friendly volunteers explains exactly why this is happening and also shows how the warranty, if entitled, can be corrected using the Warranty Dispute page.

If there is no Warranty Dispute Page for your region, you may need to reach out directly to HP support to correct this.

Most of us are just volunteers here.. This is a Peer-to-Peer community forum only

Best Regards
