Hello,

I bought a used HP EliteBook 8770w. The laptop was legally purchased from a private seller on Facebook Marketplace. The laptop works fine, but a BIOS Administrator password is set and I cannot access the BIOS. The previous owner does not know the password.

- System Board ID: 176C

- Serial Number: >Do not include the product serial number or any private information<
- Product Number (SKU Number): A7G08AV
- BIOS Administrator: AD account LAFOND\Arnold Mahoney

Could you help me reset the BIOS Administrator password so I can access BIOS?

Thank you.

I think that I should use the file SMC.bin to reset the BIOS Administrator password. But how can I get it? I recently purchased a used HP EliteBook 8770w from a private seller via Facebook Marketplace on April 27, 2025. I cannot register (add) this laptop to my devices in my HP account. And I also cannot write a request to HP support.
