HP Probook 445 G8
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello  HP Community,

We have an issue with the web cameras of this Notebook  HP Probook 445 G8.
The issue is only with Microsoft Teams.

We tried with old drivers and with the latest drivers but the result is the same.
The web camera works on MS Teams for a few minutes and after this time the camera is not usable.
The difference is that with the old drivers this issue does not happen too often as happens with the latest drivers.
In general, the issue persists with the old drivers and on the latest drivers.

The operating system is Windows 10 21H2.

The version of the MS Teams is 1.5.00.9163 (64-bit) last updated on 4/13/2022.

The integrated web camera is C270 HD WEBCAM:
Driver Provider Microsoft
Driver Date 6/21/2006
Driver Version 10.0.19041.1387
Digital Signer Microsoft Windows

HP HD Camera
Driver Provider Realtek
Driver Date 7/20/2021
Driver Version 10.0.22000.20194
Digital Signer Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher

Usually with the oldest drivers with after restart the issue is solved to next time, it's not permanent.

Do you know any permanent solution or to where I can escalate the issue?

We have a lot of these devices in our infrastructure and all end users reports for issues with their MS Teams meetings with integrated web cameras of this model Notebook HP Probook 445 G8.
And this impact is too negative.

Thank you in advance.
Best Regards.

Hello,

check for the latest graphic driver for your notebook model and the right operating system ! Install and reboot.

If there is an application installed of your graphic card vendor, where you can set several options (3D acceleration, three-dimensional rendering ... ), there could be a option where you can set the performance for each application that are using your graphic card ! I personally had a similar issue where the background blur effect for the camera didn't work, after setting "full performance" for the application "microsoft teams", it works perfect.

Just an idea

best regards.

Hi,

Thank you for the information.
On the device manager we identified this information for GPU:
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5600U with Radeon Graphics 6 Cores.

By default, we used HP Support Assistance for installing all drivers.
The driver for GPU was:
11.3.2021
30.0.1.3024.4001

Please could you confirm the right way for upgrading the driver for the GPU?
We visited this page and downloaded Autodetect package.
AMD Ryzen™ 5 5600U Drivers & Support | AMD
After this procedure now the driver is:
3.9.2022
30.0.1.5002.1004

I am not sure after changing drivers the issue is solved. We will test.

Thanks again.
Best Regards.

What do you think regarding disabling  GPU acceleration on MS Teams?

I used AMD Bug Report tool to inform AMD for the issue.

Also please could you clarify how did you set a full performance  for MS Teams in your OS?
Maybe you mean this:

The shortcut path of MS Teams:
C:\Users\trasim\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft Teams.exe
Full path of MS Teams:
C:\Users\trasim\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Teams\Update.exe

To change your graphical performance settings for an app:
  1. Launch the Settings app.
  2. Browse to System > Display > (scroll down) > Graphics settings.
  3. Browse for a Classic app or Universal app to set preferences for.
  4. Click the added app in the list and press Options.
  5. Choose your performance mode preference and press "Save".

Thank you in advance.
Best Regards.

(5) >>What do you think regarding disabling GPU acceleration on MS Teams?

Special effects of the live camera are normally lost, but not always. If your graphic card is installed correctly, the high performance setting(s) in combination with hardware acceleration should do best. Sometimes miracles happen so just try once to disable hardware acceleration, apply and reboot your operation system and test it ...

Just a few answers and ideas

I found this, before me I think my colleague also did try but it without positive result:
https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/HP-HD-Webcam-Fixed/td-p/5734683

But the driver is 10.0.19041.1387.
I am not unable to find Microsoft usb video driver  10.0.18362.1 from the topic on the page 2.

We continue to have issues with HP 445 G8 machines with Teams, Zoom with Web cameras, audio, and microphones.

The OS is the latest 10.
The Bios is the latest version.
All drivers are the latest.
The firmware of docking station G5 is the latest.
