First of all, you need to approve the tunderbolt device. If you want to automatically do it, please go to F10 Setup and set "No Security" for Thunderbolt Security. When you approve it or no security is set, you must see the Dock G2 device in Thudebolt icon > View Attaached Devices. If you can't see it witht he latest thunderbolt device driver, the cable may be bad. Please call HP Support.

Hi,

I'm facing the same issue after last bios update on april.

My G2 dock worked fine before. It is not recognized anymore.

Thunderbolt softwre prompt these informations:

When I tryed to update the firmware, it tells the current thunderbolt controller is not found:

I have all my windows update updated, all softpaq updated.

BIOS test about thunderbolt tells it s fine and no security policy is applied.

for info, the dock is a combo 230W cable.

The only functionnality that works is the power on/off button on the dock.

If anyone knwos what please, I would be grateful.

Best regards.

Hi,

I was still not able to find a resolution to this issue. I was going to contact HP Support but didn't come round to doing that just yet. However, it's still pretty bad from HP, that they don't provide correct firmware/support for one of their high-end business laptops.

Hello,

I´m on the same! Still waiting and reading this post. I don´t use G2 dock station, so the problem is not the docking station but general. Problem is in Q71 firmware update! It just corrupted (somehow) thunderbolt functions. I have all USB hubs working on it, but it do not recognize displayports.

Have the same problems as above, no way to update thunderbolt because of missing drivers.

I bought new cables to be sure they are OK, made system recovery. Then I found this post, so the problem seems to be on HP side.

Hey, HP, will you solve it??? Or should we bring you back all our updated G5 Zbooks....

Thank you in advance

did you try doing a BIOS reset to factory settings? i have seen sometimes that helps clean up the BIOS after moving to a new version... i have also had sucecss flashing back a rev and then flashing to the latest version... i cleaned up a system that could not see an external video our connection (hdmi or via usb adapter), which then started working... a bit of dust magic i guess

Hello,

thank you for your answer. YES I did facotry reset of BIOS also. Is there possibility to flash back back BIOS, really? It is my first HP,  I had only Lenovo and there was no way to flash back.

Where could we download previous official BIOS (or Firmware pack, how it is called by HP), please? HP Support offer only the last one Q71.

Thank you very much Soccer_dan

yes, you can reflash the BIOS to previous version (unless BIOS is locked and with a BIOS password)

Previous version is: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp92501-93000/sp92844.exe (1.04.05)

Back on 01.04.05 BIOS and my screens are still black. Connected by Thunderbolt > Displayport cable.

Reinstalled Thunderbolt drivers (tried an older one from Intel directly). No change

I used to work on this setup for a month, before an update. HDMI output is fine, but I have two external screens, where one Thunderbolt cable is capable do deliver signal to both of them (they are connected in serial from one to another).

However thank you for your time

Hello,

I also found that this is quite common problem, not only Zbooks. HPs, Lenovo and Dell all of them have forum posts about broken TB functionality.

So, my question is, is HP able to fix it at end user side by any softpaq? Do you report these issues? Will you solve? Should I return PC? - of course not, they have 30 days to repair it etc.....cannot be 30 without PC.

It costs a lot of money, my work is "crippled" to notebook monitor. Every day searching for any solution, still nothing. I need to work!

Thank you in advance for solution!

Latest result - BIOS rolled back to 1.04.05 din´t help, thunderbolt software report unknown driver and TB3 firmware updater fails every time
