@ColderProducts Which did not work? the 1.08 bios update or are you referring to one of the various other suggested solutions...

This thing is nothing but a door stop for me at this point. Very aggravating since it once was working fine.

the folder where all the files are downloaded to is SWSETUP on my computer from HP SoftPaq

what happens if you refer to this folder SWSETUP and mark subfolder when you update

So, I got this thing working again...Though I am not sure if it will last.

In the bios I went to advance and changed the Thunderbolt 3 Security to no security, Then restared the computer with dock UNPLUGGED...then once the computer was booted completely plugged in the dock. Then I started getting all "Dun nah" connection sounds. At this moment everything is work but I will update if it stops.

I am still baffled by why when you restart with the dock plugged in it does not work.

For what its worth, I am on bios v 1.05, all other drivers are updated from HP Softpaq, I also updated my NVIDA drivers independently from their website, not sure if this helped any.

Hi folks,

same here for me with the zBook 15 G3 and Thunderbolt 3 Dock.

Never got such an unreliable product. Any productive work is not possible. Rebooting the zBook several times a day to get USB, LAN, WLAN back to work with always unpredictable results. I'm feeling like a beta-tester of this product.

I'm happy to not have sold this product to one of our customers as I would fear to be kicked out.

I request HP engineers, which are hopefully reading these posts to find an immediate  solution. I'm already willing to return the product and go for something different.

I have an support case open on this but Im not very convinced to get a solution.

I've gotten to some level of stability. I need to reboot occasionally, by things I've found are:
-always shut down, never hibernate. Waking up from hibernate rarely results in USBs working.
-never hot swap the thunderbolt cable. It's got to be plugged in at the cold boot. When things are not working and the restart doesn't work, load without, then plug it in.
-never let the computer sleep when thunderbolt is connected.
-Boot with the notebook lid open and only shut once you see a Windows login. There is also an issue where it hangs if the DisplayPort on the dock is the primary display at boot time. Then, only shut once the first external display gets signal.

I would bet the HP test use cases did the cold start, but not the hot swapping, sleep/power, lid, or driver SW combinations. It's a good product, but the drivers definitely needs some work.

@leopard96

Thanks for your advice, I too have found using these methods help make it somewhat useable. I am still getting random mouse/keyboard lags and where I will be typing and the keyboard will jussssssssssssssssssssssssssssst do that.  Also, for what its worth I have a nice new audio interface that is connected via USB and simillary the sound will lag (makes an annoying high pitch noise) periodically. This seems to be another symptom of the USB issues.

Has anyone had any experience using the dock on Windows 10?  I'm wondering if updating my computer would help or hurt the situation as the only firmware updates for the dock are for Win10.  Maybe the dock was engineered with Win10 priorority?

Updating to Windows 10 will make no difference at all tkuhn89 - I've got exactly the same problem as you running it. Man this is so bloody annoying - this kit isn't cheap and yet HP have let some really sub-standard gear pass through QA and they're taking their sweet time to fix it. Making me think I should have gone with a Macbook Pro.
