Dear HP Support Team,

I hope you are well. I am writing to request assistance in resetting the BIOS password for my HP EliteBook 2560p laptop. I have forgotten the BIOS password and am currently unable to access the system settings.

Here are the system details:

Product Name: HP EliteBook 2560p

Serial Number: [<removed>]

Product Number (if available): [A7C85PP]

I am the rightful owner of the laptop and can provide proof of ownership such as the purchase invoice or any other required documentation upon request.

I understand that HP may provide an SMC.bin file or specific instructions to reset the BIOS password. Please let me know what steps I need to follow.

Thank you for your support and assistance.

Hello @MI2580 ,

Welcome to the HP Poly community.

A quick community search for the terms BIOS & Password finds all these posts >here<, which are mainly closed with the below explanation:

Unfortunately, you will need to contact an HP agent for problems with BIOS passwords.

Here is HP's official policy regarding BIOS passwords:

According to the Community's Rules of Participation:

4d. No posts shall include instructions/directions intended to bypass or subvert security mechanisms such as lock screens, BitLockers, BIOS lock, passwords, fingerprint/biometry scanners, PINs, or any other safety measures.

Therefore, this topic is being locked. If you would like help resetting the password on your product, please Contact HP support in your region.

For cases related to BitLocker issues, please contact Microsoft Support.

The only way to recover your PC's BitLocker key is if you printed it out or exported it to your Microsoft account when you first set up your PC.

Find your BitLocker recovery key - Microsoft Support

Without the key, you will have to clean install Windows on the encrypted drive so you can use your PC again.

Best regards
