Yeah that didn't seem to do much,

though I got ahold of one of our zbook 15 g3's that seem to be working and started comparing. The only difference I found is the working one has a very outdated bios. It's running 1.02 not the 1.05 that softpak has, and the one that the motherboard was replaced has 1.06 and it does not function properly.

I have not had the issue at all on bios v 1.02! does anyone know if there's a downgrade file out there so I can test on another machine?  *update* researched and I wonder if they borked the update on 1.04 with their enhancements?capture.png

new advisory item that was sent to me via e-mail and they say there's a new bios version 1.08a

A HP rep sent me 1.08, but unfortunately it did nothing for my computer. In fact it can no longer boot Windows 10 if the dock is connected.

Hopefully it works better for you!

I haven't attempted 1.08, or even found any notes of it besides that e-mail, but I have had good luck with 1.02 and 1.03 so far. want to try that?

I've been away from the grid for about 1-1/2 weeks, but thought I'd at least provide an update:  I've tried updated ASMedia drivers, the updated BIOS (1.08), and every other update available through SDM and none have provided any change in behavior.  It's getting pretty disheartening...

Ok, so based on some info I found in a different thread, I just tried removing the Citrix Receiver app (14.4 or something like that - it was the app that installs when I access Citrix via my company's website) that was installed on my computer, and also fully uninstalled all of the ASMedia drivers.  Then I rebooted and tried plugging the dock back in.  So far, things appear to be working, though I'm testing things cautiously at this point.

I'm not going to call this a solution yet, because I've not had any time to fully test (and won't until later this week).

So far, after removing the Citrix Web Receiver software from my computer, I'm two days into successfully using the dock without issues (including having all my USB ports work correctly, all my screens working, and network connections).  I'm on BIOS 1.08, NVidia 354.90, no Intel graphics drivers (I run with hybrid graphics disabled), and also just updated to a new Thunderbolt Connect Utility (15.3.40.275) that I noticed in SDM today.  My updates have been applied in wholly random order over the past month and a half trying to get this **bleep** thing working.

I know that Citrix isn't the culprit on many computers, but so far for me, it appears that it has been the issue.  I'll be testing it on a different dock at home this weekend as well.  Until I've gone a full week without problems, I'm not going to fully accept that it's fixed.  And I'm still going to have to try getting something from Citrix running as well eventually.

Didn't you also remove the asmedia drivers? Just wondering because I don't have citrix

While I had Citrix installed, I couldn't get the ASMedia drivers to uninstall or reinstall - they would simply hang.  After I uninstalled Citrix, if I tried to plug in the dock, I'd get a BSOD instantly.  I had read in a different thread on here (about USB issues with the dock) that the BSOD might be ASMedia drivers, so I tried an uninstall of those after Citrix was removed they uninstalled immediately.  I then re-installed the latest one from SDM (1.16.35.1) and then plugged the dock in and it has been working since.  That was all Monday afternoon.

My computer has been on since then, but I've done several reboots without issue.  I have not had the computer go to sleep (I disable that while on AC power), but lock it whenever I step away from it.  I've currently got Hybrid graphics disabled, I have a 4k screen connected via DP, an HP Z30i 2560x1600 screen connected via USB-C/DP cable, and a 1920x1080 monitor connected via VGA, along with the laptop screen.  My network is connected to the dock, and ALL my USB peripherals (keyboard, mouse, and #D mouse) are connected to the dock via the built-in USB hubs in my two monitors.  I've not encounted any stuck keys or stutterinng in the USB connections since then, and I've been using the computer pretty heavily.

The only oddity I've run across is some random windows Explorer crashes while I was doing some large volume file transfers over the network - but I can't specifically attribute those to the dock (they could have been caused by any number of things from Windows 10, to using Stardock Fences, to simply the fact I had more than a dozen file explorer windows open with various file transfers or deletions all occuring simultaneously).
