@Paul_Tikkanen,

Thank you for your feedback. I do have a WiFi 6 router, a C4000XG 4x4 Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) router.

However, it is unclear to me how to adjust any router or AX200 setting(s) in order to improve the AX200 transceiver performance.

Kind Regards,

You're very welcome.

The only manual I could find for that model router is very basic.

I have an Asus AX11000 router and there is a general wireless settings menu and within that menu is a setting called Channel Bandwidth.

I have mine set on the 5.0 GHz band to 20/40/80/160 MHz.

See if your router has settings like that.

The AX 200 card in my older Dell Optiplex 7020 desktop PC which is on the same floor of the house as my router has this throughput...

Forum,

The replacement CPU heatsink GDSTIME 80mm PWM Fan did not work properly. Would not adjust revving when CPU heated up (looks like a PWM issue) and upon shutdown the fan would continue to spin.

So, regrouping -so to speak, and decided to look for a higher-end 8025 HP-specific CPU cooling fan, and ordered one option: an AS8025V12, 12V 0.5A, 6 watt (HP p/n: L46798-001) used in an HP Pavilion 590-P0053W Desktop PC.

Will see how that pans out.  Stand by.

@Paul_Tikkanen,

Your feedback as always was insightful indeed.  Logged in to my router immediately and found out that the 160MHz option is not (yet) available.  You see, when I looked for it, I was greeted with the following asterisk: "* Requires client device that supports 160MHz bandwidth on Wi-Fi."

Since I have a 160MHz capable AX200 "client device" installed in my desktop, I am going to follow up with my internet service provider since the C4000XG is a "high performance 4x4 Wi-Fi 6 router (802.11ax)", capable of 160MHz channel band width.

Anyway, right now, my router's "Channel Width" is set at 80MHz:

And when I looked further, these were the channel band width options available to me:

Yes, I believe if you can enable the 160 MHz channel bandwidth, that will help.

I had to check a box in my router's GUI to enable 160 MHz but have basically the same drop-down menu for the others as your router's GUI has.

Dear Forum,

The thinking behind this modification was to substantially increase the internal positive pressure and increase the airflow -especially through the HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF's heatsink.

Installed a high performance 6 watt 90x90x25mm cooling fan on top of the chassis cover directly centered above the HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF's CPU heatsink/fan assembly and also removed the heatsink shroud. (I didn't think that the 800 G3 SFF shroud was particularly effective anyway, so good riddance.)

This CPU cooling modification is working very well: upon stressing the i7-7700K, instead of peaking around a blistering 99° C, the highest CPU temperature I observed was 85° C.

@Paul_Tikkanen,

Btw, thank you for this pertinent information/endorsement regarding the Intel 7265 AC Wi-Fi Adapter I intend to purchase for an HP Pro 6300 SFF:

Dear Forum,

Having participated in assisting a User finding a way to install a W11 compatible processor in an HP Envy Curved 34 AIO, it provided an idea to consider for my HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF rig: replacing the 800 G3 SFF motherboard with an 800 G4 SFF motherboard.  After all, the dimensions, the I/O position and the screws holding the motherboard in place, etc. are all the same.

The only real and significant difference are the MB's chipsets: old- Q270 vs. new-Q370 and this means I could fit it with an Intel i7-8700K.

I am going to seriously consider this -after all, an HP 800 G4 SFF motherboard can be bought around $70 -however the i7-8700K sells for around $220, so that is a negative.

Hi sir,

I also make "gaming PC" from elitedesk 800 g3 mini + adt link + rtx 2060.

I want to ask, can i change my i7-7700 procie to i7-9700? They both have same mobo socket (lga1151). Is it possible by update bios?

Thanks

@Midas2060,

Welcome to our Forum!  -The i7-7700 is the fastest processor that is compatible with your motherboard's Q270 chipset: https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_(chipsets)/Q270.html.

A big maybe for the i7-7700K (TDP = 91 watt vs. 65 watt for the i7-7700), but I'm afraid that's it.

Kind Regards,
