Tags are often an underutilized tool in online communities, but they’re one of the most powerful features for organizing and boosting engagement. Whether you’re managing a forum, social media group, or any other online platform, tags can be the key to a thriving community. Here's why they’re indispensable and how they can help the community users.
Enhanced Discoverability & Content Organization
Tags serve as signposts that make content easier to find, both for registered users and potential new registrants. In the absence of/Without/lack of tags, there is higher probability of posts getting lost, especially in an active community such as ours!
By tagging posts with relevant keywords, users can instantly locate the topics they care about. For example, someone interested in the HP Spectre x360 can find posts related to its features, performance, or tips and tricks with just a click. This makes browsing much more efficient, as tags help categorize conversations, allowing users to easily explore specific topics like “laptop performance,” “touchscreen functionality,” or “HP laptops for remote work.”
The experience of navigating through the community becomes “organized” and helps the user feel less overwhelmed to find the content.
Tags are essentially the glue that holds the community together.
Increased Engagement & Growth Opportunities
Tags are an engagement powerhouse! Using appropriate tags in posts is an enabler in finding or reaching its intended or targeted audience. Topics and questions have more traction if tagged with the relevant keywords that boosts clicks and views, thus creating more meaningful conversations!
Additionally, tags help new members discover our community. If we use trending topics, product tags, and/or custom issues on the posts, they become more discoverable in search engines and on social media platforms and boosts visibility and reach.
Tags become the doorway for new users to find their community
Tracking Trends, Collaboration & Tailored Content
Help us serve the community better! Tags provide insights into the pulse of the community. By tracking the trends and traction of tags, it enables us to better align our solutions to the questions of our users! It is like having real-time feedback on what people care about the most, so you can stay ahead of the curve.
Moreover, tags foster collaboration among community members. By tagging content around key issues/topics like “error code 11” we create opportunities for users with similar interests to come together. Over time, these shared tags can lead to networking, collaborations, and a stronger sense of community.
To conclude: The Power of Incorporating tags into the community posts might seem simple, but their impact is huge. They streamline content discovery, encourage meaningful engagement, and help our community grow and thrive. Tags increase posts' visibility, organize conversations, and create a more engaging environment for both new and existing members.
So, if you're not already using tags, now's the time to start. They will help you build a more connected, active, and successful community.
Who can tag?
Tags are enabled from users who have reached LEVEL 3 in our Community Volunteer to Expert Program! Here is the Expert Level program that will hopefully encourage you to engage with this community and get to the “tag enabled level” soon!
How to add tags to your post.
Step 1: Identify the available tags, if you have tags it would show another radio button as “View all (#)” displaying the total number of tags available on the post, however, if you don’t see that as highlighted in the below snapshot, please click on “add tags” (highlighted in yellow) to add a new tag to the post.
Step 2: Once you click on “Add tags”, it will show a field you can use to enter the tags with commas, and then click on “Add” to proceed with adding them to the post.
Happy tagging!
