Will HP be issuing an update for my HP OfficeJet 4655 printer for Apple Silicon?

If yes, when?

If no, why?

Hi  @MLH74,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I hear your concern regarding Apple Silicon compatibility for your HP OfficeJet 4655. At this time, As per the support website I see there is no native driver update for the HP OfficeJet 4655 printer for Silicon.

The good news is that the easiest and most reliable way to use your HP OfficeJet 4655 on an Apple Silicon Mac is through Apple AirPrint. AirPrint operates natively within macOS and does not require separate HP drivers, Intel-based software, or Rosetta-dependent printer drivers for basic printing functionality.

To ensure your printer is configured correctly, we recommend the following steps:

  1. Remove any existing printer installation
    • Open System Settings - Printers & Scanners.
    • Select your HP OfficeJet 4655 and click Remove Printer.
  2. Reconnect the printer using AirPrint
    • Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi‑Fi network as your Mac.
    • In Printers & Scanners, click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax.
    • Select the HP OfficeJet 4655 from the list of available printers.
    • In the Use drop-down menu, ensure AirPrint (or Secure AirPrint, if available) is selected instead of a generic or legacy HP driver.
    • Complete the setup process.

I hope this helps.
