DesignJet T525
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have an HP DesignJet T525 36-in printer that is less than a month old.  I have it connected to my LAN using wired ethernet and set for static IP address 192.168.2.11.

I have only used this printer a few times, but it has worked well so far until today.  Today, when I send a job to the printer, it enters the print queue but stays there without printing.  The printer status shows as "Offline".  I made sure the option to "User Printer Offline" is not checked.  I even purposely checked this option and then unchecked it again to see if this would help (it didn't).  I have restarted both the printer and my computer and this has not solved the problem either.

Aside from not being able to print and the printer showing as "Offline", I also noticed that I am not able to access the printers embedded web server.  Previously, I was able to do this by entering the printers IP address (192.168.2.11) in by browser's address bar.  Now, this address redirects me to an advertisement/information page on Internet Information Services.  I have tried this both with Google Chrome and Microsoft Internet Explorer, with the same result.  I have even tried it with another PC I have on my LAN.  I did confirm that the printer does show 192.168.2.11 as its IP address and I am able to PING this address 192.168.2.11 successfully.

If anyone here can give me a clue as to what might be the cause of this issue, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

First make sure that you do not accidently have a duplicate IP address assigned. If the static address you applied to the printer falls within the DHCP range of your address server (router or actual server) then that can create confusion. Easy to test this by removing the network cable from the printer and pinging the address to see what happens. I would try a different IP address and a different port on the  switch you are using.

Hi Repairatrooper,

Thank you for your response.  Based on your suggestion that my problem may have been the result of a duplicate IP address being assigned to another device on my LAN, rather than changing the IP address of the printer, I went into my router configuration and reserved its current IP address (192.168.2.11) specifically (and only) for the printer.  After doing this, I turned all of my computers and printers OFF and then cycled power to my router.  Then I turned my computers and printers ON.  Now I am able to print to my T525 and access the embedded web server.

I will keep an eye on it to make sure the problem doesn't return, but I think you figured it out.  I really appreciate your help!!!

Thanks again and best regards,
Paul
