During power on reset, I get an error code 30.3:10 "OPTOTRIP SENSOR NOT WORKING AS EXPECTED" message on the machines display. No paper is loaded and new ink cartridges have been installed.

Problem Solved.....
While waiting for parts on an eariler service call, the customer tried to repair the machine themselves. They removed the left side cover, and in doing so they disconnected part of the wiring harness. Reconnected harness and error code went away.

It's looks like a hardware problem.

 

did you try to clean the encoder strip?

Yes, I've cleaned the encoder strip. The Service Station with DD Sensor was recently replaced.  During the power on reset, I'm asked remove and reinstall all the ink cartridges.  After I press "OK" when the last cartridge is installed is when the error code occurs.
