As I have already ordered the replacement printheads, I'll see if that fixes it before doing anything else.  I'll let you know.

I have replaced the four printheads and now one of the ink cartridges needs replacing, even though it is still showing as full.  Looks as though that has dried out as well.

Unfortunately I cant print a test page so don't know if the print heads have resolved the problem.  I will order the ink cartridge today.

In answer to an earlier comment, I am using genuine HP ink and printheads. Whilst I am waiting for it to arrive:

  1. Is there a way of cleaning the cartridges so they can work again?
  2. Also, I don't have any system maintenance options on either the printer properties or printer preferences.  I now know how to do this from the control panel buttons (and have attemped to do a printhead recovery), shouldn't there be a way of carrying out this maintenance from software?

Thanks

The cartidges have a chip on them, they count the ink so theres no home remedy how to refill them.
About the maintenance, if i remember corectly the inside software of this printer was a pain in the *** to operate beacuse its written in old outdated Java wich is not supported by todays browsers and that could cause a issue.
But the answer to your question is - yes, you can perform maintenance tasks from the software (but i am sure you will come back to the panel buttons after few tries)

Hi

I wasn't wanting to refill them, just clean them to remove the clot that is causing the problem.

Thanks

You can try to clean the heads with warm water, just the printhead lines

I  ordered a replacement cartridge and fitted it but it is still showing as an error in that the specific cartridge symbol is flashing and the error light is on.  In this state, I am also unable to print out a configuration page or anything else.  I also dont have any maintenance options in the software so can only carry out maintenance by using the panel buttons.

I have now purchased 4 print heads and 2 ink cartridges so I am begining to think this has all been a waste of money and the problem is something else.

A replacement cartridge i hope means a original cartridge?
Check the chip connections, may be they are dirty with ink or something
