My Designjet T1100PS has come up with the "paper loaded incorrectly" message but there is no paper actually loaded in my printer. I have seen other posts about the paper sensor but don't even know what to look for, can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

You'll need to get underneath the printer and look for some wires leading to a small, plastic box-like shape that's clipped onto the sheet metal.  It should be the only wires under the printer and they lead to the sensor.  Sometimes these wires can get loose and drag across something and get detached from the sensor  The last time this happened to me was when I was loading a T5400 in the back of my SUV and the guy helping me shoved it into the truck, ripping the wires loose and requiring a new sensor be fitted.

Or the flag part of the switch can get snapped off.  If heavy paper is being used, it can sometimes snag the flag and break it off when the paper is loading.  (Yours appears that it's failed in the closed position maybe?)  I would go below and unclip the switch and take a look at it before buying a new one, just to confirm it's the problem.  They're easy to change  and pretty easy to find on Ebay.  It's just a flag-style sensor.  Here's one from Ebay:

There may be less expensive ones on there.  This is just the first one that popped when I did a search for "Designjet T1100 paper sensor".

Also, be aware you'll need to remove the right hand cover because the sensor plugs into the PCB on that side located behind the Service Station.

I don't work for HP....I just repair their printers.
