Hello
I set up a 3560 with two vlans 1 (data) 20 (voice) I allowed vlan20 across the trunk. However the only way my phone get an IP from DHCP is when they are dir. connected to the switch that is connected to our voice router.
As soon as I move the phones to the switch traversing the trunk I get nothing. I can ping both ways across the trunk (to the switches) I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Anyone else have this issue?
switch at the far end of the trunk I can ping the switch dir. connected to the router/dhcp server, a phone connected to that switch, but not the router/dhcp server
From the switch directly connected to the router/dhcp server, I can ping the router/dhcp server
SIMPLE DIagram bold = switch
Router/DCHP server -> int fa0/11 voip-switch (trunk) fa0/7 -> fa0/24 tnetcsw1 -> phone fa0/1 & phone fa0/2

so I plugged in wireshark to monitor the trunk, and it looks like my pings to the gateway don't even hit the trunk. However I can still ping the other switch and phone connected to that switch. Why would my pings to the gateway not even hit the trunk?
Something else interesting I found. If I unplug the phone that is connected to the other switch and try to ping I don't see the request come across the trunk, that doesn't seem right. How can you troubleshoot if that's how it's supposed to work?
