I work remotely.  My company uses a service, 8x8, for our phone system.  My phone is the only one that receives incessant ghost calls.  I have a Polycom Soundpoint IP 550 SIP and AT&T is my ISP.  I welcome advice on the steps I can take to stop the ghost calls.  Thanks!

Sometimes it is pretty simple to read the latest post before commenting as you can see the above solution was provided already to the last poster.

While I do appreciate amount of energy Steffen used to silence this question I still cannot accept provided answer.

I understand that a line in the config can fix FW issue (IMHO this should be a default setting) but an explanation how to insert such line into phone's config. I cannot find such option on the webGUI I am afraid.

Hello Gradek,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

If we would expose every single parameter the phone can change to the Web Interface it would be impossible to manage.

Therefore the community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Mar 08, 2013 Question: Where can I download configuration files from or create these myself?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

and

Oct 7, 2011 Question: Do I always need a Provisioning Server or can I configure a Phone via the Web Interface or via the Phone Gui?
Resolution: Please check => here <=

I'm also having problems with Ghost calls.  I'm getting approx. 600 per day.

I was finally able to download the Configuration, but I'm concerned about editing the file and uploading it.

In reference to this,

voIpProt.SIP.strictUserValidation="1"

why wouldn't RingCentral fix it instead of making users deal with it?

And I have no idea how to make these changes suggested in Option 2.

"Option 2:

In order to add additional security the Admin Guides matching the currently used Software Version document the Incoming Signaling Validation.

You can choose from three optional levels of security for validating incoming network signaling:

  • Source IP address validation
  • Digest authentication
  • Source IP address validation and digest authentication
