I purchased a used IP450 on eBay and it was assigned a password. So I have followed instructions regarding powering down then turning back on, holding down 1,3,5 and 7 at the same time until prompted to enter a password. REMOVED BY A MODERATOR. But when I tried to enter 456 after going to settings > advanced... no dice.

After a bit I tried entering the password, 123 and it worked. So I thought I had gotten lucky and went ahead and changed the password to 456 just so I would remember it. So I thought I was good to go.. went to settings > advanced > entered 456.. all good. But I do not see the menu item, admin settings which I need to get into in order to add my phone to onsip etc.

After researching some more, I realized that 123 was a standard user password. So I believe all that I have achieved is to change the user password and not the admin password. Hence when I enter settings > advanced (enter my recently changed user password), I get a user 'standard' menu without the admin settings.

Can anyone advice on how I can reset this phone's admin password. I have tried via a browser but the credentials are changed there too and I don't know them..

Grrrrr!

I know you run this risk buying used hardware but the instructions for resetting the phones password, settings etc seemed so easy.

Any advice would be great. We're a small business and really need this phone to work!

Hello Kate,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

We do not publicly advertise how to reset the Phone. You have used the correct method but the phone may contacted its provisioning server and downloaded its standard configuration again that includes the changed password.

The combination and functionality you used is the correct method but please ensure that the provisioning server does not point to any server that you are not aware off.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
